Matheson Statement on the Retirement of Justice O'Connor

Washington DC-Congressman Jim Matheson issued the following statement:

"Today's retirement announcement should be a time when we pause to thank Justice O'Connor for her long and distinguished public service. Sandra Day O'Connor -as the first woman appointed to the U.S. Supreme Court-is a groundbreaking figure. Her Western roots nurtured a self-reliant, independent and determined nature. Through her intellect and hard work, she created her own brand of pragmatic and centrist-oriented conservatism. I wish her well as she steps down from the pinnacle of the judiciary that she graced for the past 24 years."
